Pedoman-Pedoman Dalam Membuat Question Tag
1. Jika kalimatnya positif, maka menggunakan negatif tag.
- He will go abroad, won't he ?
( dia akan keluar negeri, kan )
2. Jika kalimatnya negative, maka menggunakan positif tag.
- He won't go abroad, will he ?
( dia tidak akan pergi ke luar negeri, kan )
3. Jika Simple Present menggunakan : Do / Does
Jika Simple Past menggunakan : did
Gunakan satu auxiliary yang pertama jika ada lebih dari satu.
- Rangkuman 16 tenses + question tag :
1. We speak English, don't we ?
2. We are speaking English, aren't we ?
3. We have spoken English, haven't we ?
4. We have been speaking English, haven't we ?
5. We spoke English, didn't we ?
6. We were speaking English, weren't we ?
7. We had spoken English, hadn't we ?
8. We had been speaking English, hadn't we ?
9. We will speak English, won't we ?
10. We will be speaking English, won't we ?
11. We will have spoken English, won't we ?
12. We will have been speaking English, won't we ?
13. We would speak English, wouldn't we ?
14. We would be speaking English, wouldn't we ?
15. We would have spoken English, wouldn't we ?
16. We would have been speaking English, wouldn't we ?
4. Kata-kata yang mengandung arti negatif, menggunakan positif tag. Kata-kata tersebut antara lain:
- seldom
- rarely
- little
- absent
- never
- hardly
- no one
- nothing
- scarcely
- few
- unusual
- impossible
Ex : He seldom visits her, does he ?
You were absent yesterday, were you ?
5. Kata few dan little menggunakan positive tag.
Kata a few dan a little menggunakan negative tag. Kata few diletakkan sebelum kata benda jamak yang dapat dihitung. Sedangkan little untuk kata untuk kata benda yang tidak bisa dihitung.
Ex : Few students are praying, are they ?
A few students are studying, aren't they ?
I need little sugar, do I ?
I need a little sugar, don't I ?
6. Khusus am not yang tidak bisa singkat, harus diganti aren't.
- I am a techer, aren't I ?
- I am not a techer, am I ?
7. Kalimat perintah positive / negative, menggunakan : will you.
- Speak English, will you ? ( bicara bahasa inggris, ya )
- Don't speak Maduraness, will you ?
8. Kalimat Let's, maka menggunakan : shall we.
- Let's go together, shall we ?
- Let's speak English, shall we ?
9. Perhatikan perubahan subyek dari pernyataan ke question tag :
- Everyone is happy, aren't they ?
( dalam pernyataan everyone menggunakan to be is, tetapi dalam question tag everyone harus diubah menjadi they. Karena berubah menjadi they sehingga to be yang digunakan adalah are ):
- Everybody ........ they ?
- Someone ........ they ?
- Somebody ......... they ?
10. Perhatikan perubahan subyek dari pernyataan ke question tag :
- Everything is ready, isn't it ?
( dalam pernyataan everything menggunakan to be is dan dalam question tag to be - nya tetap is karena everything berubah menjadi it )
- Something .......... it ?
- A book ......... it ?
- This pen ......... it ?
11. Kalimat majemuk yang terdiri dari induk kalimat (main clause) dan anak kalimat (sub clause), question tag-nya mengikuti induk kalimat.
- She will come if you invite her, won't she ?
- After I had left a small village in the south of France I drove on to the next town, didn't I ?
12. Kalimat yang menggunakan this, that, these, those.
- This book is good, isn't it ?
- That book is good, isn't it ?
- These books are good, aren't they ?
- Those books are good, aren't they ?
- This is a good book, isn't it ?
13. Kalimat yang menggunakan none of......, mengikuti setelah of.
- None of you will go, will you ?
- None of them will go, will they ?
- None of us will go, will we ?
14. Gabungan dari beberapa subyek, mengikuti rumus sebagai berikut.
I + all of subject = We
We + all of subject = We
You + all of subject, axcept I/We = You
Subject III ( S/P ) + Subject III ( S/P ) = They
Ex :
- I and she can do it, can't we?
- You and He can do it, can't you ?
- She and He can do it, can't they ?
15. Jawaban question tag :
- Membenarkan :
You are studying, aren't you ? Yes, I am
You aren't studying, are you ? No, I am not
- Menyangkal
You are studying, aren't you ? No. I am not
You aren't studying, are you ? Yes, I am
